Do I really have to make a subject name? ((Tobi/Open I suppose))
El was walking through the desert with a book in his hand. He was researching to find if the plants had any medicinal properties. Surprisingly a lot of the plants, what little there were in the desert here, did according to Ishvalan medicinal practices. El stoops down to check out a small flower that didn't appear as though it belonged in such a place.

Tobi trudged through the desert, muttering under his breath about, as always, how much he hated deserts. He spotted a white haired man bent over observing something and approached him. "....What are you doing?" He asked, raising an eyebrow curiously.

El jumps a little. He's surprised, the desert sure has been busy lately. "Just studying the desert plants for medicinal uses." says El. "My name is Elbrecht Jaeger. Formerly Colonel Jaeger the Gale Force Alchemist." El figures that he had likely been heard of, but if he hadn't he was sure that him saying EX-colonel would probably raise a question about why he no longer was in the military as a state alchemist.

Nodding, Tobi offers his hand for El to shake. "My names Colonel Tobi Mustang, Whiteice Alchemist in the Amestris Military. I've heard of you." He smiled.

El shakes Tobi's hand, "It's a pleasure to meet you. I don't believe we were in the military at the same time, but I've heard of you too, mainly by your state name, but nonetheless I hear that you're quite skilled." says El.
((sorry, short))

Tobi smirked cockily, but said nothing. He didn't need to. "So," he said, "Studying plants for medical research?" He wrinkled his forehead. "Interesting." He glanced down at the plant that El was looking at. It looked out of place amongst all the sand.

"Yeah, it's amazing what simple looking plants and herbs can do when used properly. Honestly before I got sick I didn't know anything about first aid let alone what wild plants can do. But I ended up getting drawn into it when I was searching for a cure." says El refering to his illness.

Tobi looked up at El in confusion. "You're...sick?" He asked. He didn't seem sick, but then, you never know with these sort of things. "I hope you don't mind me asking, but what do you have?"

"A sickness I can't even pronounce." said El honestly. "Don't worry, it's not contagious or anything. Anyways.... At first I coughed up a little blood. Then it started happening regularly.... After that I started noticing that my abilities with alchemy were beggining to weaken. I trained double time to try to stop this but even that didn't work. When the doctor figured out what I had he said with the stage that it was in I would have 5 years or less to live. That was 2 years ago. He also said that I would lose my alchemic abilities, which I for the most part have... I honestly have a little trick up my sleeve but it only works defensively and is the only alchemy I can perform and still if it wasn't for the way I prepared it I wouldn't be able to do anything, well as far as alchemy goes that is. Anyways, that's the reason why I resigned from my position."

Tobi's eyes softened considerably. "I'm sorry," He said sincerely, "That's truly terrible. From what I've heard about you, you don't deserve that at all. You seem to be doing well, though, considering. It must be hard for you." He looked at his feet, not sure what else to say. "I'm sorry," He added again, to be on the safe side.

"Thanks for the kind words." says El with a smile. "It has been tough, that's true, but things are definately looking up. I'm making progress with my research. I've already figured out a potential remedy and have begun gathering the ingrediants for it. The only problem with it is that it is a mixture of remedies from two different cultures, so I'm not sure how the different components will react with each other. Nonetheless, it's a good spirit lifter."

Tobi smiled, obviously relieved. "Good. Some people would have just given up, you know, and I'm glad you didn't. I respect you for that." He grinned and looked back at the flower. "So is this an ingredient?"

"Actually I'm not sure what it is. It looks like a flower that I've seen in books before, but those flowers grew in mossy areas.", says El looking a bit puzzled. He then goes back to his book and flips through the pages. "I'd think there would be something in this book about it. This is an Ishvalen medicine book. They have more than just medicinal plants in here and I'd think that they's have this marked somewhere even in brief reference, but they don't."

"Strange," Tobi muttered, staring intently at the plant, "No record of it in the book? And we both know this sure as Hell isn't a mossy area....hmm..." He thoughtfully inspected the plant, narrowing his eyes slightly.

"Oh well, nature will always have surprises for us I guess." says Jaeger giving up on figuring out what it was. "After all, life would be boring if it didn't.....So, what are you out here for?" asks Jaeger as he closes the book.
((Again, sorry that it's short.))

Tobi shrugged. "I'm on a mission, of some sort," He said with a chuckle, "I don't know what I'm actually supposed to do, but I'll figure it out."

((Nice new Avatar... oh, and imma do the thing I always do to extend my posts....))
"Alright.......That's not particularly a good thing", says El a little surprised by the answer, "Me speaking with you isn't hurting your progress any is it?" asks El. El suddenly grabs a handkerchief out of his pocket and starts coughing. The handkerchief was already stained with blood but is even more so now. He then folds it up and pockets it. "Sorry about that."

((Thanks, hah.))
"No, I would have just sat around anyways. I'm a very lazy solider," He chuckled. He blinked when El coughed. "Woah, Man, are you okay?" He sounded concerned, "Is this part of your illness? Maybe you should...I don't know....sit down or something?"

"No, it's alright, it happens every half hour or so. I've had to adjust what I eat to help boost my red blood cell count because of it. It's just a pain in the ass. I remember once when I was still a state alchemist, a subordinate called me out and wanted to fight me one on one. I told him fine and he didn't even touch me once, but I had a spell and was too busy to clean up the blood. When I was finished they thought that the guy had hit me enough to cause internal bleeding. It was shortly after that when I resigned."

"That sucks," Tobi said, "We should find that guy and beat him up or something. Just for fun." He chuckled. Beating people up was fun for Tobi, and, at least in his opinion, he was good at it.

"Well, actually, heh heh..... he got hospitalized for 2 weeks after our little bout and he never disrespected me again. It's funny how you can beat respect into those that don't have any for you." says El

Tobi laughed. "I agree," He said with a nod. "I'm a pretty big guy, so people are afraid of me to begin with."

((points to elbrechts common quote in profile: I'm really starting to wonder where they are.))
Elbrecht chuckles. He can't help but think how much taller than Al Tobi is. "Not some people." says El, "I'm sure you've met Al before. He definately wouldn't fit into the category of being afraid of taller people. Of course if it was true he'd be afraid of ALOT of people."

"I'll take one guess why he hates you. Judging by how amused you are by him hating you I assume you made comments about how feminine he looks? After all, about everyone does."
