History: Xan was five years old when he started reading books about Alchemy. By the age of nine, his parents noticed that he was a genius in the subject, having done his first successful transmutation at age six. The reason that he had become so good so fast was because of the fact that he was always reading some sort of alchemy book. If he didn’t understand a word, he’d go find someone who did. His IQ was 120 at age nine though, so there were only a few words he didn’t understand. As he got older, his IQ increased, as did his alchemic knowledge. One day, an accomplished alchemist took him on as his apprentice.
Xan was happy then, because he could learn alchemy much faster this way. Unfortunately for him, the good times were not to last. When Xan turned fifteen, he stumbled across his master’s notes on human transmutation, and wanted to try it. He thought that he would be able to do it. His inquisitive hubris would come back to haunt him later. When Xan was sixteen, he was travelling with his master, and they stopped at a village that someone had just died in. The man’s name was Damien Leval. When Xan heard of this man’s recent death, he decided to try to transmute him back to life. And so, at midnight of that night, Xan assembled the necessary ingredients for a human body and began the process….
At first, everything seemed to be going right, but then the runes turned purple, and Xan’s body began to unravel, especially his arm…Scared for his life, Xan screamed, a primal scream that could be heard even outside of the chapel he was using for this attempt at playing God. Before he was even halfway finished screaming, Xan found himself at the Gate of Truth, before the One. The One told Xan why he was here (Hubris) and told him that because he was here, he would indeed find the answers to better alchemy, but at a price. When Xan got back to the chapel, his right arm was missing. Taken from him one of the shadows he had seen on the other side of the gate. Eventually, his master came and carried him to the nearest hospital, as he had heard the screaming. By the time that the master had gotten there though, the newly created Homunculus had disappeared…..
After Xan had healed, he applied to the State Military, determined to put his Alchemy to good use, and also to someday meet the being he had created, as he would be traveling a lot because of his duties. He didn’t have to try that hard to be accepted, the State was overjoyed t o have an Alchemist on its side who could perform Alchemy with no circle. After receiving his State certification, Xan has been researching ways to improve his alchemy even more, and improve his skills in tactics, and also he awaits the day that he meets the being that he created.
RP Sample: Xan was bored. There was no other way to put it. He wasn’t out patrolling, or using his alchemy to do very much of anything at all right now, except to transmute the paperwork he was supposed to be doing into random objects and back. Sighing, Xan thought of Quicksilver, all alone at home. At least, he hoped that Quicksilver was at home, or else both of them might be in for it later on.
Without a real warning, an assassin broke in through the window, brandishing a knife at Xan. The man was an Ishvalan . He was screaming at Xan about his being a traitor to his own kind. Xan didn’t even let the man finish screaming at him before he clapped his hands together and touched his palm to his desk. The wood from the desk shot out and struck the man in the chest, winding him. Xan told him to be quiet, and said that he had no idea what he was talking about. Not wanting to lecture the young man, who looked hardly older than himself, Xan threw him back out the window he came in from and told him to get lost before he called the guards. The man gave Xan a confused look then ran away. Xan looked at the man for a minute, then he sat back down, transmuted his paperwork back into paperwork, then got to work on it as thpugh nothing happened.
