Kiri grinned at Tobi, playfully, "Yes, yes well take it or leave it, it wasn't meant to be a compliment." she teased. "That's just your ego talking!"

Hiram smiled at the two, "well pleasure to meet you both, Im still quite new to this whole state alchemist buisness". Hiram noted this discourse between Kiri and Roy, and inwardly chuckled, "If I am not being to forward, may I ask Col. Mustang, What are you reading?" hiram said indicating towards the book in front of Tobi.

Tobi laughed at Kiri's comment. "Ego? I have no such thing! Well, maybe a small one." He turned to Hiram then. "Oh, uh, just a bunch of boring research stuff."

Hiram smiled and indicated at the books at the table he had just came from, "I know what you mean, I've been doing the same for the past few hours" Hiram noted how Tobi skirted around the subject, Hiram decided not to press the subject further. "How long have you two been state alchemists", he inquired with a general easy going expression.

Tobi shrugged. "Not long," He admitted.

Kiri crinkled her nose, "too long." she replied at the same instant as Tobi. She shoved Tobi indiscreetly like a high school child. She looked at Hiram curiously, "I was uh..." she picked up a random book, which was called Romance of the Lake "Reading this!" In truth, Kiri had no idea what the book was about, it just happened to be sitting there....

Tobi chuckled as he saw the title of the book. "Didn't know you read all that mushy stuff, Hawkeye," He teased, "You never struck me as the romantic type."

Kiri paused and thought this over a moment "Uhh well.. wait a romance?!" She freaked out, throwing the book on the table like it was some kind of parasite. "I-I mean of course I knew that!" She puffed at her chest proudly.

Tobi grinned. "So, what's it about," He asked, pretending to be interested. "Any dirty scenes?"

Revel shoved him playfully. "Yeah let me tell you about the scene where a man and woman were together and rolled around....... in a mud puddle!"

"Since when are mud puddles romantic?" Tobi asked, picking up the book from the shelf, "This wouldn't happen to be one of those stories where all the main characters are pigs, would it?"

Kiri blushed and tossed her head, looking away, "No... You asked for a dirty scene... not a romantic one."

Tobi wrinkled his forehead, amused that she didn't understand what he had meant. "You haven't even opened this book, have you?"

Kiri smiled nervously "O-Of course I did.. it's about uhh... a lake..."

"Ah," Tobi said. "I never could have guessed that."

Kiri huffed and shoved him harder, "Jerk!"

Tobi laughed. "How am I a jerk?" He asked innocently. "I was simply trying to take part in your interests."

Kiri rolled her eyes, "Uh-huh surrreee..." She crossed her arms and grinned.

"What? I'm telling the truth. I care all about howw...." He flipped to a random page in the book, "Tiffany and Kyle care more about eachother than any- Oh, you've got to be kidding me!" He threw the book back on a shelf, "That's so lame. Please tell me you're not really into those things?"

Kiri wrinkled her nose at the book and wondered if Tobi would catch a lie if she threw it. "Oh totally into those books! I've never read anything better!"

Tobi glanced uncertainly back at the shelf. "Really? It seems really cheesy. I mean, the whole complex of finding the 'love of your life' and whatnot. And at a lake setting? Forget it. It's just too...eh, I don't know. Unrealistic, I guess. I'm into more realistic stuff." He playfully stuck his tongue out at her.

Hiram listened to the two of them intently, he chuckled "well I don't care for those sorts of novels myself, but I can see the apeal for a world different than our own". Hiram discretly glanced down at the title of the book mustang had been reading making a mental note to read it later his curiosity had been peaked. Hiram looked down at his wristwatch "Damn it, I have a lot of paperwork due, so much more paperwork now that Im a state alchemist". "It's been a pleasure talking to you both, if either of you need assisitance with anything, just contact the Armoury, leave a message and I'll see what I can do". He could tell that whatever it was that Mustang was researching, he wanted a part ofthe action if anything were to come of it.

Tobi smiled and nodded. "Thanks, Colonel, I'll remember that," He said. He could use some one else to do all his paperwork! Glancing at Kiri, he wondered if he could convince her, too... he chuckled at the thought.

Hiram smiled, “Well It is nice to meet other alchemists I'll let you get back to your research". "Until we meet again", Hiram bowed and took his leave. "That went quite well, they seemed to be quite nice, they were obviously trying to cover up their research, but they didn’t come across as suspicious, just cautious”.

Tobi turned to Kiri. "Seriously, though, you were kidding about the book, weren't you?"
